Olympus Unveils New Medical Learning Center for the Americas
Center Valley, PA facility to serve as central training hub for cutting-edge medical products across North and South America business operations
CENTER VALLEY, Pa., July 2, 2013 – Olympus, a precision technology leader in designing and delivering innovative Medical and Surgical solutions, among other core businesses, announced today that it will unveil its new Medical Learning Center in the Lehigh Valley.
The Medical Learning Center, a 2,875 square foot modern training facility featuring cutting-edge medical technology, will be used to train Olympus employees and distributor partners from across North and South America. The new facility supports Olympus’ commitment to excellence through comprehensive training of sales, marketing, field and technical support personnel on the safe and effective use of the company’s innovative medical and surgical products that, in the hands of healthcare professionals, help people lead more fulfilling lives.
"Training is a critical part of our business—it ensures that our employees, partners and subsequently, our customers, have a deep knowledge of our portfolio and understand how to harness the technical capabilities of our products to deliver cutting-edge, minimally invasive care in a safe and effective way," said Luke Calcraft, President of the Medical Systems Group at Olympus Corporation of the Americas. "This enables us to address the requirements of healthcare reform through our portfolio of innovative technologies, most of which are aimed at early, minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of diseases with obvious patient outcome and cost benefits."
The construction of the Medical Learning Center provides a significant financial investment in the local community by using Lehigh Valley commercial partners, including Diefenderfer Electrical, Multi-Tech Construction, Signs By Tomorrow-Allentown and Vistacom. The new facility will help bolster perceptions of the Lehigh Valley as a supportive, sophisticated environment for high-tech, innovative businesses.
In addition, through Olympus’ partnership with Communities in Schools, the Company will use the new facility to provide education programs related to its current Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives as well as general career training to empower students with the educational resources to make a positive impact in their lives and future careers.
The Medical Learning Center will be unveiled this evening from 6:00 to 8:30pm EST with a private ribbon cutting ceremony including employees, partners, State Senator Pat Browne, and representatives of elected officials including Carol Obando-Derstine (Regional Manager for U.S. Senator Bob Casey), Marta Gabriel (Regional Manager for U.S. Senator Pat Toomey), and Lisa Walter (Chief of Staff for State Senator Bob Mensch).
