Olympus Announces Live Webinar for Advanced GI Fellows Preparing for Practice

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., (January 10, 2019) – Olympus, a global technology leader in designing and delivering innovative solutions for medical and surgical procedures, among other core businesses, announced today it is hosting a live webinar entitled, “Life after Advanced GI Fellowship: Preparing for Your First Year in GI practice” presented by Dr. Eric Trawick, MD. The webinar will be presented on January 16 at 5:00 PM EST.

The transition from being an Advanced Fellow to an Attending GI physician is challenging. While fellows are well trained for their roles in the procedure room, they still have a lot to learn about the daily working life of a gastroenterologist, including how to establish themselves within a practice and how to run a practice.

“Determining your preferred practice type is a good place to start as you emerge from your Fellowship,” said Dr. Eric Trawick, MD. “Geography, availability, and your personal practice style are all important factors.”

In this webinar, Dr. Trawick will reflect on his own transition and review the right questions fellows should ask in the process. He will also discuss details about establishing specialization in endoscopic procedures, looking at his experience of developing an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) program at his practice in Lafayette, LA. In particular, he will review how to choose and acquire the appropriate equipment, build referrals and networks, and sustain a successful EUS practice.

“Indications for EUS are on the rise,” said Dr. Trawick. “In a new practice, I wouldn’t be surprised if more growth comes from EUS. This is good news for Fellowship Trained Advanced Endoscopists because there is huge potential for their services.”

Dr. Trawick is an experienced gastroenterologist who specializes in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at The Gastro Clinic in Lafayette, LA. In addition to his practice at The Gastro Clinic, Dr. Trawick is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine-Gratis, responsible for training residents in Internal Medicine through the Louisiana State University Medical System.

Register for the live webinar, or let us know if you would be interested in speaking with Dr. Trawick about his EUS practice.
